Enjoy Glammin Girls!

Being a busy mum of three little ones, I need to make sure that I dress to suit the day. So whether it be being mum, a day working my office job or a day spent knee deep in WA fashion, I not only need to have a versatile wardrobe but one that is comfortable! I’ve spent the last few years trying to define my style and what I have come to realise is that my style revolves around my day and my mood. I rarely follow trends….. in a nut-shell, I dress to be comfortable, to be practical, and to be chic.

I was thrilled when Jess and Sammie from Glammin Girls asked me to be a guest blogger to highlight my favourite Western Australian labels. It was a chance to get a little more personal about what labels I love and what suits my own style.

So here they are, the labels that I adore and save every penny for;

1. Aurelio Costarella

This self named label is my little indulgence in life. Impeccably designed garments that need no introduction as they are instantaneously recognisable because of their style. For me, the Costarella garments that I have are individually so special as they each hold a memory of a special place or event that I have worn them. I love that Costarella garments are for life and pieces that you can one day pass down to your daughter.

2. Bianc

This is a Western Australian jewellery label that impresses me regularly with new collections. Designer behind Bianc, Bianca Silver, sure knows how to produce pieces that are versatile and stunning. With an array of sterling silver and gold plated pieces in a rainbow of colours, there is a piece for everyone. My latest acquisition, a sterling silver tear drop black onyx pendant, was a gift from my lovely husband. I’ve had so much wear out of it as it seems to go with almost everything!

3. Betts

I love how Betts design practical and comfortable shoes. No matter what the occasion I require shoes for, I can always rely upon Betts to have something in stock to finish off the ensemble. Better still, there is always a huge range to choose from as their collections consist of basics, glam and something a little edgy! I’m also a lover of their clutches!

4. Carly Paiker

Carly Paiker is one of the first labels that I came across when I started blogging about WA Designers. I’m absolutely in awe of the success that Carly has had with her jewellery label and I’m so proud that she is a West Aussie! Carly’s pieces are me all over and I actually find it quiet dangerous getting on her website as there are always a piece there that I fall in love with! They are all simple yet striking pieces with clean lines and beautiful colours. I’m a proud owner of several Carly Paiker pieces and I can’t wait to add to my collection!

5. Flannel

Flannel is another one of those labels that comes hand in hand with special moments. I love the garments that I’ve acquired from Flannel as they are ever so delicate and feminine and whenever I wear them it’s usually to somewhere special. Another label that needs no introduction as it can be identified easily by any fashion lover through its design. I’m absolutely in love with their South Perth store as it is the perfection location, full of beautiful garments and home wears and completed with its own little cafe inside the store.... ahh the smell of fresh coffee brewing whilst admiring Flannel fashion!

6. House of Zaccaria

The word ‘obsessed’ doesn’t quiet explain how I feel about this label. Their garments are perfect for every type of day so I always manage to sneak a piece from this label into my weekly wardrobe ensembles. I particularly love their oversized tops. Perfectly stylish in plain or patterned colours and uber comfortable as they hide all those parts that I want to be hidden! Teamed with their classic black leather and ponte leggings, I always feel extra special in this label. I can also thank House of Zaccaria for feeding me with my blazer obsession and for introducing a little bit of rock chic and skulls into my life.

7. Jessica Bratich

Another label that I can’t get enough of. Currently I own four Jessica Bratich pieces…. A purse for every day, a casual clutch, a dressy clutch and a travel bag that fits all my (and my kids) belongings in! All pieces made in the best quality leather and finished in durable hardware. Jess’ label is one of those labels that wait I very patiently to see the next collection as her first two collections have been so fabulous… Winter can’t come soon enough!

8. Misano Shoes

There’s a lot to be said about a comfortable pair of shoes! Being the proud owner of several Misano Shoes now means that I am always comfortable from day to night wherever I go. With a price point that is so affordable, great quality and a huge collection to choose from, I know that I am always able to find a pair of Misano Shoes to suit my outfits. Even better, their collections have styles to suit any woman of any age.

9. Morrison

One word sums up the collections from Morrison.... Perfection! When I first visited Morrison I did the usual and took no less than ten items into the changeroom in the hope that at least one item would fit right. To my absolute delight... they all fit! The reason? Simply because they are designed well and they are made well with excellent quality fabrics. If you are ever in need of some basics, casual day wear or chic evening wear, Morrison is the place to go!

10. Zhivago

This is where I push my own style limits a little more than usual. I am absolutely infatuated with this label and the garments that they produce! So edgy and so fashion forward, I am always in search of images on how their creations can be worn and styled in different ways. I first fell in love with this label when Perth model, Grady Wulff, wore their fitted sequin gown down the runway at the Heavy Metal Charity event last year. To prove to you how deep my passion lies, I can declare that it is now on my bucket list to wear a Zhivago gown someday to an event!

So there it is... a list of my very own personal favourite Western Australian labels! We have so many incredibly talented designers in this gorgeous state of ours that I really did find it hard to narrow it down to just ten!http://designedbywa.com/

I don't love all the things on the website but there are some really nice looking things that flatter the baby bump really well!

10 Things I could not Live Without

Today I thought I would do kind of a funish post on the 10 things I could not live without. This is is not 10 things people couldn't survive without it is things that I love! just making that clear. So here they are!

My iPhone- Seriously this thing is amazing. I have no idea how I lived without this before. It is my alarm, clock, timer, calendar, notepad, map, radio, email checker, internet, camera and of course my texter and phone caller! Steve Jobs you bloody legend. RIP

My mac book- No this is not a book it is my laptop and yet another apple Steve Jobs creation. As great as an iPhone is I can't really write documents and do much work on there so thats why this thing is so great. I do all my work on there oh and take stupid arse pictures on photo-booth with the weirdos in my life! But you know soon this could be old school because I just got myself an iPad!

My TV- Now I know I have just bought up all electronics but seriously who doesn't love TV! I get to keep up to date with the Kardashians, Giuliana and Bill, Ice and Coco, Jersey Shore, Teen mom and all those other shows. Its a great get out of my way tool. When Im trying to clean the house and my fiancé is flying a helicopter around the place I say look iFish is on or look the basketball is on or the footy is on I mean its great!

My robotic vaccume cleaner- This is the bomb.com. Having a 2 story house it is a big area to clean so when I found this thing on the market I had to get it. I use to have to vaccume at least 2 times a week but now I only have to do a quick one once a week. I love this thing, it has a sensor so it doesn't crash and when its running out of charge it finds its way to its charger and charges itself up...AMAZING I KNOW

My handbag- Being a lady I have what feels like 120000 things to carry around with me and if a handbag did not exist I would have no clue how to carry all the useful things and the crap I have in my bag.

My Car- People who can't drive and don't own a car really amaze me because if I didn't have my car life would just be so damn hard. I can go where ever I want when I want if you can't drive you don't have that freedom. I would have to catch a bus to work and everywhere I else I go which everyone bus I catch seems to have at least one weirdo on it.

My Straightener- Every girl has cray cray hair days where our hair just looks mental or somedays we actually want to put effort into our hair. I'm thinking smart here with a straightener you can also curl with a curler you can't straighten, get it? So I love this it saves we going out with crazy looking hair and people look at you like WTF

My microwave- As much as I love a nice fresh home cooked meal, we all have lazy days where we just can't be stuffed, microwaves are perfect chuck leftovers or a weight watchers or lean cuisine and thats dinner done for the night.

Electric Toothbrush- Imagine how gross we would all smell if this didn't exist YUCK! I know the dentist says we should brush our teeth 2x a day I brush my teeth 3x times a day and an electric toothbrush for me actually makes brushing your teeth fun ha ha ha!

Air con/Heating system- This is my last thing I could not live without! I live near the ocean so in winter it is bloody freezing with the sea breeze and In WA we get damn hot summers so my Air con/Heating system is very well used!

These are my 10 things I could not live without! Tell me some things you couldn't live without in the comments!

2013 Golden Globes Best and Worst Dressed

Well thats the Golden Globes done for another year! This year on the red carpet I think the main trend was sequins diamonties and sparkles and I loved it, I think it looks very elegant. Another trend was very classic colours there were a few exceptions but most people rocked classic colours. Below I'm going to talk about my best and worst dressed choices It was a tough choice but here they are:

WORST DRESSED:
Anne Hathaway: I loved Anne's hair and makeup I thought it really suited her but I really was not a fan of the dress. I didn't like the material that was used and It is a very plain dress being all white. I like how the peplum gives some shape to the dress and I like how it is constructed but there is no wow factor and vavoom!

Halle Berri: I hated this dress.I was not a fan of the bold floral print it looks like something someone might have as a dooner cover or curtain. I didn't like how there was a split in the leg but also another one on the waist. I think if the was just a split in the leg it would have looked better because she has killer legs!

Jessica Chastain: I didn't really mind the dress itself I mean I didn't love it but I didn't like it at all on Jessica. Because she has such a pale skin tone and because of her hair colour it just didn't work for her it blended in to much. I loved her makeup and the lip colour was a nice pop of colour to have but I wasn't a fan of how she did her hair. Overall not a fan.

Stacey Keibler: Stacey is such a beautiful girl but I just didn't like the dress on her. I didn't like the design how it is just plain black with white lines not very stand out. I really didn't like how flat her hair was on her face I think for me it needed some poof! I love the clutch Stacey paired with the dress but I think she could have done way better.

Kerry Washington: Kerry is such a pretty girl! I loved the dress colour on her skin tone but I didn't like the dress shape it just sat it had no shape. The thing that I hate most was the length if the dress didn't stop at her ankles she wouldn't be under the worst dressed list! I loved the detail on the dress but Didn't like the length and the shoes Kerry wore!

Lena Dunham: Worst dress of the Golden Globes for me. It was horrible! The shape is not great I didn't like the sleeves and I really think she should of covered up that tattoo! I don't think she worked the dress the way she posed made it look even worse! IT WAS HORRIBLE!

Lucy Lui: I loved the style of the dress on Lucy and her hair was beautiful so princessy, but the thing I dint like was the pattern and It looked like a curtain and the print was way to old fashion did not love it at all!

Taylor Swift: I usually love what Taylor wears but for me this time she got it wrong. I hated the colour on her I think it is very old fashioned for someone of her age. I didn't like how high the neckline went and I hated the train on the dress how it was all frilly not my cup of tea! I didn't really like her hair either. Taylor usually always wears stunning gowns but this dress just didn't do it for me!

BEST DRESSED:

Kate Hudson: Woo did Kate looked hot or what! Its not a super detailed dress but it just looks amazing I love it I want it myself! The train on this dress is beautiful not to long but sits beautifully! I think the the gold detailing on the stomach area and going up her neck adds the wow factor and I love the split in the chest area! Overall ms Hudson looked so glam!

Jessica Alba: Jessica is one of my major girl crushes she always looks so beautiful and the globes were no exception! Her gorgeous peachy pinky orangey coloured dress just looked so gorgeous, I loved the neckline and how it sat on her body type and the train was just amazing it added something really special to the dress and made it unique. That necklace is so perfect with the dress it fits in so well her makeup is gorgeous love the bright lip and the hairstyle is beautiful! She was one of my favourite, Jessica never disappoints me.

Jennifer Lopez: JLo aghh what can I say she just looked amazing in her figure hugging white and skin tone dress! I love how she is not afraid to show her curves and she works them. I really loved the detail in this dress it is simply stunning. Her hair is perfectly done to go with the dress and her makeup is great. JLo has done it again she looked very elegant big welldone to her!

Sofia Vergara: From one girl who is not afraid to show off there curves to the next! Sofia always loves a bit of glitter and sparkle and in this beautiful black gown with lots of sequin and glittery detailing she looked fabulous. This gown looked great on her to die for olive skin tone. The lip colour choice was a nice pop of colour to the black dress! Sofia looked devine!

Emily Blunt: Emily just looked spectacular in her beautiful gold Lacey number. She really blew me away she really did look the part. I was in love with the dress it just worked so well on her, ai love the split in the abdominal area it was very unique. This dress was very very classy and I would give it a 10/10! The elegant high bun made Emily look even more classy! Amazing Amazing Amazing!

Heidi Klum: Wowzers Heidi looked fantastic! I loved loved loved the split on the left leg she has amazing long legs so why not show them off. The gold detailing on the top of the dress really made it fabulous. With her blonde hair this dress really worked for her I though!

Isla Fisher: This dress was really so beautiful and so elegant I loved it! I really loved the detail all the sparkles on the dress it looked really stunning I loved the black clutch and the really simple but elegant hair!

Nicole Richie: Nicole is a style inspiration of mine I love her! This gorgeous blue dress was spectacular I loved seeing her in this light blue colour it looked fab. I really like how she was wearing blue eyeshadow as well...AMAZING!

Eva Longoria: Oh my Eva looked amazing and super sexy as usual! Loved the bit of leg she was showing and the high lace neckline, the shoes were great and the hair was perfect! Great look on Eva loved it!

I know this was a really long post but I wanted to fit everyone in that I loved and hated! These are my opinions you may not agree with all my choices but I hope you enjoyed this post Xxx Sammie
