Christmas... You got to love it! Its my favourite time of the year and I know many other peoples favourite time as well. I love the feeling around everything feels festive and happy.
Christmas has been such a huge thing for me from since I can remember, my family make it so much fun and make it such a special day.
I have so many Christmas memories. One of them was my mum would buy my brother my sister and I a chocolate calender each and every morning after breakfast we would open our window in the calender together and see what we all got. Another memory was sitting with mum and my siblings and writting our Christmas notes to Santa together. Mum use to say don't ask for what you want straight away it's rude! My favourite pre Christmas routine was to get a photo with Santa. Every year my mum and dad would take my brother, sister and I up to Myer to sit with Santa. Sammie was a scardy cat so she stood next to Santa but me and my brother Jake got to sit on his knee. I was so excited to see him and telling him what I would like for Christmas and of course getting the photo.
Christmas Eve was and still is one of the most exciting days,my house is always filled with excitement knowing that Christmas is the next day! As a little girl I got up with a big smile on my face and being crazy and super excited with Sammie and Jake. If Christmas was at my place we would all help mum and dad set up the house and make it perfect and up to mums high standards with Christmas carols playing it was so fun. If Christmas wasn't at our house we would watch some Christmas movies to get even more excited. We then went to Nanna's house for a traditional early Christmas eve dinner we ate at around 4pm. After we had a yummy dinner, mum, dad,Jake,Sammie and I set off to look at beautiful Christmas lights we went to so many houses until we had enough! We then would come home all sit together on the couch and watch the carols by candle light that were on tv while drinking either egg nog or choc pepermint milk! We would try and stay up as late as possible because we loved carols by candle light. We then put our Christmas sacks out for Santa we put out 2 each just to be safe, then put a fruit mince pie for Santa and a glass of milk egg nog or if he was lucky a beer and a carrot for the reindeers. It was a tradition that we had a sibling sleepover. We all crammed into Sammies room because it was biggest and we would talk for ages until we all one by one fell asleep. We always wrote a note to Santa to tap on Mum and Dads bedroom window when he had come mum or dad knocked on our door quitely and whispered santa's come! Then we woke up and we were in present galore!
Mum was always first up then Jake then Sammie and I at around the same time. It was a rule we couldn't open our pressies until everyone was up. So once all us kids were up we went into dad's room and started shouting MERRY CHRISTMAS,He soon got up! We then one by one opened our pressies with the biggest smiles on our faces. We played with them for a while until mum said ok you all need to get ready for Christmas lunch. We take turns in our family for who has Christmas lunch. We then spent hours at the Christmas lunch that turned into dinner. We came home so tired but still had energy for some time to play with our new toys. By the end of the day we were always stuffed so we all got a goodnights sleep!
I had so many great Christmas memories from being a kid! Christmas is still as special as it was when I was a kid. I can't wait till next Christmas when I will have my little nephew around to experience it and I can't wait to spoil him!!
